We are looking for a Front Office Manager to join our pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, set to open in Spring 2025.

Surrounded by natural beauty, the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca spreads over 3 hectares of landscaped cliff tops and gardens cascading down to the sea, where it offers unique access to two coves surrounded by crystalline waters. The property is ideally located within Calvià, one of the most exclusive municipalities of the island, and close to key attractions such as the Portals port, the historical landmarks of the capital Palma de Mallorca, and the international airport.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will feature 131 guestrooms, including 44 suites and nine bungalows located just a few steps from the waterfront. The spacious accommodation will provide full or partial sea views, outdoor terraces or balconies, some of which offer private panoramic plunge pools. A comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer the Group’s signature wellness therapies and beauty treatments, with a focus on local nature-inspired programmes. The spa includes an indoor swimming pool, while three outdoor pools are located across the resort.  Guests will also have access to a wide range of water-sports as well as a comprehensive Children’s Club.

As the Front Office Manager, you will be responsible for directly oversee the Front Desk Assistant Managers, Supervisors and Agents. The position also includes the supervision of the Night Managers/ Supervisors and Audits. The Front Desk Manager indirectly oversees the Bell personnel, Porters, the PBX operators and the Concierge employees.

 

The Front Office Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Operate the Front Desk properly, efficiently and with profitability, which includes overseeing the Front Desk Assistant Managers, Front Desk Supervisors, Front Desk Agents and other Front Office colleagues
  • Maximize room revenue and occupancy by effectively controlling rates and availability (on the day of arrival)
  • Delegate duties and responsibilities to Front Office colleagues and ensure that work processes are in a logical order
  • Ensure proper staffing at all times
  • Ensure that Legendary Quality Standards, policies and procedures of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca are properly understood and followed through among Front Office colleagues
  • Assist in compiling annual departmental operating budgets as well as capital expenditure and manpower budgets
  • Direct all activities of the Front Desk Assistant Managers, Front Desk Supervisors and Night Management/ Supervisors/ Audits to ensure communication and follow-up on any problems, guest requests, special requirements, etc.
  • Control and analyse departmental costs to ensure spending is within budget
  • Perform all aspects of human resources and training functions, including hiring, performance appraisals, counselling, coaching, training, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Ensure and maintain a very high standard of personal hygiene, behaviour and grooming standards of staff
  • Handle all guest complaints and comments tactfully
  • Ensure that the Legendary Service Training manual is continuously updated, maintained and used effectively
  • Cooperate and coordinate teamwork with other departments
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management

 

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum two years Front Desk managerial experience in a luxury hotel
  • Strong knowledge of Front Office operations, including cashier and reception
  • Successful problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills both written and spoken, in Spanish and English.
  • Excellent organizations skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • The ability to work well in a team environment
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including morning, afternoon, overnight, weekends and holidays.
